Washing your hair right
This may seem like a pretty simple thing to do, but unfortunately, a lot of people do it wrong. Washing your hair properly can protect against dandruff, lice and other skin diseases, as well as give your hair a clean look.
Washing step by step
- Wet your hair thoroughly by holding it under water for about 30 seconds.
- Apply a little (a few large drops) of shampoo to your hands and distribute near the scalp.
- Massage with your fingertips, but not too hard. Do not move the hair towards the top of the head, this will cause frizz. You can also use your thumbs to distribute the shampoo over the skin.
- Rinse your head completely until the water runs down your hair without any bubbles. This is very important as not rinsing the shampoo thoroughly enough can leave a greasy layer on the hair.
- If desired, shampoo the hair again.
- Before applying conditioner, you can use a flat comb and comb out any tangles to further smooth the hair.
- Apply conditioner (again, a few drops or more if needed) to the middle and ends of the hair. The cuticle produces its own substances to strengthen the hair at the roots, so there is no need to use conditioner there. Gently comb through the hair. Rinse thoroughly.
- Finish the procedure with a stream of cold water. This will not get rid of frizz as is commonly believed, but it will temporarily make your hair less frizzy. In addition, cold water causes the pores of the hair (as well as the skin) to close, resulting in shinier hair after drying.
- Dry your hair. If you do this with a towel, you should pat your hair and gently run the towel through it.
Tips
It is better to use warm water rather than hot water. Hot water is harmful to the hair and leads to hair color loss. If you have longer or thicker hair, you can use more shampoo. If your hair is oily, you need to wash it twice before applying conditioner. People with curly hair may need a shampoo that does not contain sulfates (ammonia, baking soda) as these ingredients can dry out the hair. You can also avoid using shampoo and learn to wash your hair in other ways. Finishing the wash with cold water will give your hair an extra shine.
Notes
You don’t need to overdo the temperature of the cool water, you need to make sure that it is tolerable. If the shampoo gets into your eyes, you need to rinse them out. You should not curl wet hair, as it is sensitive and curling can cause breakage. If possible, do not wash your hair every day as this can dry it out.
By following the above tips, you can significantly improve the health of your hair, make it thicker and shinier, as well as manageable.
